TOOMEY, Patrick Joseph, a Senator and a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Providence, Providence County, R.I., November 17, 1961. He previously served in the House from 1999 to 2005. He ran for the Senate in 2004 and lost in the primary. He graduated from LaSalle Academy, Providence, R.I.; and graduated Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., B.A. He is married to Kris and has three children. He is a Republican and his religion is Catholic. Toomey was elected to the United States Senate on November 2, 2010 and he spent $-2,093 to be elected. Among all the candidates he has the most raise than others, $18,382,000 and he spent $17,557,336 on fundraising. His top five contributors are Club for Growth, Elliott Management, Senate Conservatives Fund, SAC Capital Advisors and Crow Holdings. The key votes that he had voted are Veterans Job Bill that would extend tax credits to businesses that hire unemployed veterans and provide new dollars for retraining older unemployed veterans for high-demand fields, Repeal tax-reporting provision of health law in which the amendment would repeal an unpopular tax-reporting provision of the health-care law that opponents say overburdens small businesses and Two-week budget bill that would keep the federal government funded through March 18 and cut $4 billion in spending by targeting programs that President Obama has already marked for elimination. . His political positions are Health Care, Education, Energy, Budgets Job and the Economy etc. He believes the best way to lower health care costs is to empower patients and increase transparency within the health care system. One way to do that is to create greater equity among purchasers of health insurance. In education, he believes that all children, regardless of their parents' income, deserve a quality education that will allow them to fulfill their potential. He supports establishing education reforms that will live up to this vital goal. Lastly, in Budgets Job and the Economy issue, Sen. Toomey believes that it is imperative that we bring spending under control and have a federal government that lives within its means. That is why Sen. Toomey has cosponsored a balanced budget amendment to the U. S. Constitution that would require the federal government to stop spending money it doesn't have.
